Launch Date, October 12th 2024! Feeling BRAVE!
October 12th is my oldest daughter’s birthday, and I chose to launch my website on this date because this girl makes me feel BRAVE! Happy Birthday, Sophia!
I am 23 years older than my first daughter and still, somehow, it’s she that gives me the courage to do what is difficult and intimidating. This angel of mine stirred something inside me when she first came to live with me. Literally- inside my body, she moved in and got cozy and ever since I have loved having her close to me!
She showed me feelings, insights, and dreams I had never realized I ever wanted. Then after she was born, I took comfort in simply, and so powerfully, having her with me in all the adventures of life.
A big moment when I realized the effect of bravery my own daughter has on me is when I first moved to China. I was pregnant with my third baby and had to drive myself to a doctor’s appointment. Sophia was five years old and her brother was two.
I was terrified to drive in what was an unfamiliar place with three little ones in stow.
As I carefully rolled down the street and stopped at a traffic light, I felt this strong presence behind me.
A presence of security, peace, capability, and courage. It felt like a soothing-feminine-electrical power! A power that was going to propel me to move!
This presence was my daughter sitting directly behind me. I smiled to myself because she was so small, and having her with me urged me to do what was difficult.
She too is a writer, and together we sit on our beds and share our stories, writer’s block techniques, and encourage each other onward in our amazing ideas.
All while playing background music of the savvy teenage-breakup genre. It’s the best.
So today- I’m clinging to her ecstatic-BRAVE energy again!…
