“Second Firsts A Step-by-Step Guide to Life After Loss” By Christina Rasmussen – Self Help
Second Firsts A Step-by-Step Guide to Life after Loss by Christina Rasmussen is another life line for those seeking guidance through any type of trauma or loss in their life.
“I know you are afraid. I know you are grieving. But you are not meant to grieve forever.”
This book kept my attention throughout every page because it was clear the author was writing and teaching from true experience. Her thoughts are deep and real, her guidance extremely helpful. The way she has risen from the hopeless feelings resulting from the tragic loss of her husband at a young age, and then to be able to reach others and lead them to happiness along with her, is truly incredible. This book proves this author has a special talent and gift on the matter of overcoming the disappointments in life.
“Grief walked into your heart and created room for your soul to grow. In that space, your soul has been, and is being strengthened.”
What’s even more amazing is that Rasmussen has been able to teach her concepts in a way that will resonate with anyone who has experienced any type of loss. This book is not only for those who have lost a loved one through death. The applications explained are capable of helping anyone in their healing. This has been a book I have revisited multiple times, as I value Rasmussen’s authenticity and her vulnerability. In her sharing about fading despair, she helps others find a way out of theirs and how to live their life more fully.
“…I stopped trying to fit into the life I had left behind. And I found that my pain lessened. My new self was no longer trying to match my old surroundings.”
Rasmussen explains The Life Reentry Model to her readers, and guides readers through three phases: Survivor, Watcher, Thriver – each with their own purpose in creating a new life after loss.
“Over time, I was being aligned with a new reality, one that did not involve full-time pain. My Thriver helped me find hope again, and believe in my voice once again. When I was young, my Thriver did not know how I was supposed to use its voice. It did not know that I would experience a loss and then reenter life with a stronger brain, heart, and voice. But that is what eventually happened.”
“There is a door within the space of your sadness. You hold the key.”
“To all the courageous souls who choose to live again after loss. I wrote this book for you.”
